Company Profile

Pfeil & Company was founded in 1987 and headquartered in Saratoga Springs, NY from 1994 until 2017 when the principals relocated to the Seattle, WA area. Pfeil & Company has concentrated on retail leasing, commercial and multi-family development, construction consultation, and adaptive reuses of historic buildings.

Over its history, Deane and Jeffrey Pfeil, the company’s principals, have negotiated scores of leases as exclusive leasing agents or tenant representatives. They have worked with national retailers, including Borders, Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohls, Petco, Home Depot, Linens N Things, OfficeMax, TJMaxx, Michaels, Eddie Bauer, GAP, Banana Republic, Talbots, Chico’s, Ann Taylor Loft, Cold Stone Creamery, Berkshire Bank, Red Robin Restaurant, NAPA Auto Parts, Big Lots and Jos A. Bank, as well as local and regional tenants.

As construction and marketing professionals, they have assisted numerous real estate clients over the years in a wide variety of projects from medical office buildings and shopping centers to unique custom homes.

For more than 20 years, the Pfeils were instrumental in the design, development, marketing and leasing of The Crossing, a 365,000 sf power center in Clifton Park, NY. They also successfully recruited national and regional tenants for Wolf Road, Albany’s major retail district; Stuyvesant Plaza, Albany’s premier specialty center; and Congress Park Centre, a major retail/office/residential project on Broadway in downtown Saratoga Springs.

In recent years, they have become known for their pioneering endeavors in Troy, NY where they purchased and successfully redeveloped two prominent, historic buildings into multi-family units (Powers Park Lofts condominiums in Lansingburgh and The Conservatory apartments in historic downtown Troy). Both projects have had a dramatically positive effect on economic and community development in two different neighborhoods. In 2009, they opened Pfeil Hardware & Paint, a successful, 8,700 sf urban hardware store in downtown Troy. In 2016 they sold The Conservatory as well as the hardware store, which is now Ace Hardware of Troy.

Pfeil & Company has been highly regarded for its attentive personal service, professional expertise, integrity, hard work, pioneering spirit, and creativity. Because of its fine reputation, most of its clients and projects come through referrals, affiliations and a wide-ranging network of retailers, colleagues and real estate professionals.

In June of 2017 Jeff and Deane moved across the country to the Seattle area where they are enjoying the Pacific northwest while pursuing new interests and new development projects and opportunities
